How Digiworld works

Step-by-step guides for buying, selling, supplying and running a school book list. If your question is quicker than a guide, try the FAQs or contact us.

Finding and buying things

Digiworld is a marketplace: many sellers list on it, and several may offer the same product. You always see one offer up front — the cheapest one that is in stock — but you can choose a different seller if you prefer.

  1. 1

    Search or browse

The search bar covers products, stores and partner organisations, and tells you which is which in the results. You can also browse by department from Categories, or narrow a category page by price, rating, brand and colour.

  2. 2

Pick a seller, if you want to

On a product page the seller is named. Where more than one sells the same item you can switch between them and compare price, stock and rating before adding to your cart.

  3. 3

    Add to cart

Your cart is kept in your browser, so it survives closing the tab. Signing in is not required to build a cart or to check out.

  4. 4

    Check out

Enter a delivery address, choose how to pay, then review everything on one screen before confirming. You will be asked to accept the terms of sale before the order can be placed.

Prices settle a moment after the page loads

Bundle and sale prices are confirmed against live stock when the cart opens, so a total can change slightly in the first few seconds. The figure shown at the review step is the one you will be charged.

Paying and getting your order

Three ways to pay, and delivery across Nepal. Shipping is calculated per seller from published rates, so an order from two sellers may show two delivery charges.

  1. 1

    Choose a payment method

eSewa or Khalti for digital wallets, or cash on delivery. Wallet payments finish on the provider’s own secure page — your wallet credentials are never entered on Digiworld.

  2. 2

    Cash on delivery

Nothing is charged when you place the order. You pay the rider in cash when it arrives, and the order is marked paid at that point.

  3. 3

    Follow your order

An order moves through confirmed, processing, shipped, out for delivery and delivered. You can watch it from My orders, or from Track your order using the order number and the phone number on the order.

Promo codes and loyalty points

Apply a promo code at checkout. Some codes are limited to one use per customer, which needs an account — those will not apply to a guest order. Loyalty points earned on an order are credited once payment settles.

Returns and refunds

Each seller publishes its own return policy, shown on the product page and again at checkout.

  1. 1

    Request a return

Open the order under My orders once it has been delivered and choose Request return. Say what is wrong and which items are affected.

  2. 2

    Wait for review

The request is reviewed against the seller’s policy.

    Reviewed by our support team

  3. 3

    Refund

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Loyalty points are reversed exactly — points you earned are withdrawn and points you spent are returned to your balance.

Your account

An account is optional for buying, but it keeps your order history, saved addresses, wishlist and loyalty points together.

  1. 1

    Create one

From the sign-in page, switch to Register and give your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters including one capital letter and one number. Your account works immediately.

  2. 2

    Save an address

Tick “Save this address for next time” during checkout and it will be offered on your next order.

  3. 3

    Forgotten password

Use Forgot password on the sign-in page and follow the link we email you. For your security, repeated failed sign-in attempts are slowed down for a short while.

Selling on Digiworld

Anyone can apply to open a store. You register, we review the business, and once approved your store is public and you can list products.

  1. 1

    Apply

Go to Become a seller and work through the four steps: business details, address, password, then a review of what you entered. Your vendor name is your legal or contact name; your store name is what shoppers see and it becomes your store’s web address, so choose it carefully.

  2. 2

    Wait for approval

Your account exists straight away and you can sign in to the vendor portal, but your store is not public and nothing can be sold yet.

Reviewed before your store goes live

  3. 3

    List products

Add a product from the vendor portal with its name, category, images, description and price. Everything you submit is reviewed before it appears on the storefront.

    Each new product is reviewed

  4. 4

Or stock what someone else makes

Instead of creating products, you can order stock from any verified supplier on the platform and sell that. See supplying below for how that works from your side.

  5. 5

    Fulfil orders and get paid

Orders appear in your portal to move through processing, shipped and delivered. A payout is raised for every order; our commission is deducted at settlement and is never added to what your customer pays.

Editing a live product

Changing the price, stock, SKU or a sale window takes effect immediately. Changing the content — name, description, images, categories or brand — sends the product back for review and takes it off the storefront until it is approved again.

Check the price on anything you have ordered in

When you order stock from a supplier, the resulting listing starts at the price you paid. Set your own selling price before you start advertising it, or you will be selling at cost.

Supplying sellers as a manufacturer or distributor

Manufacturers and distributors publish a wholesale catalogue for sellers to order from. You do not sell to shoppers directly — a seller buys from you and sells it on.

  1. 1

    Register your business

Apply as a manufacturer or as a distributor with your legal business name, contact details and registered address.

Approved and verified before sellers can find you

  2. 2

    Publish your catalogue

Add each product with images, a full description, your wholesale unit price, the stock you hold, and a minimum order quantity. Your production cost is optional and stays private — buyers never see it.

Each product is reviewed before sellers can order it

  3. 3

    Answer orders

Sellers send you sourcing requests. Approving one reserves your stock and raises a purchase order.

  4. 4

    Get paid, then ship

Payment between you and the buyer happens offline — by bank transfer or in person. Once we have confirmed the payment against the purchase order you can move it to processing, add a tracking number, and mark it delivered.

A purchase order cannot be processed until payment is confirmed

Delivery is what makes the stock sellable

Marking a purchase order delivered is the moment the buyer’s listing goes live and the product reaches the storefront. Until then their listing exists but is inactive.

Book lists for schools

A school can publish its book list on Digiworld and have families buy the whole set in one go. You choose the titles; the sellers you nominate price and deliver them.

  1. 1

    Register the school

Apply from For schools with your organisation name, office contact and address.

Verified before your school page goes live

  2. 2

Connect with your suppliers and sellers

Your school is connected to the publishers whose titles you want to list, and to the sellers you want to sell them. Either side can propose a connection, or we can set it up for you — just ask.

  3. 3

    Build the list

Create a new book list, browse the catalogues of the publishers you are connected to, and add each title with the quantity a pupil needs. A list can span several publishers. You do not set any prices.

  4. 4

    Ask sellers to sell it

Choose which of your connected sellers to ask. More than one can sell the same list, each at their own price, and a seller declining does not take the list away from the others.

  5. 5

Sellers get the stock and set a price

Each seller orders the titles from the publishers, then builds a priced set from your list. This is the slowest part of the process, because real stock has to move.

Each priced set is reviewed before it goes on sale

  6. 6

Families buy it from your page

Once approved, the set appears on your school’s public page as a single purchase. Parents add the whole list to their cart in one click.

How bundles work

A bundle is several products sold together for one price, always lower than buying them separately.

  1. 1

    Adding one to your cart

A bundle goes into your cart as its individual items, grouped together, so you can see exactly what you are getting. The bundle price is applied across them.

  2. 2

    Keep it whole

The bundle price depends on the full set being in your cart at the right quantities. Remove an item or change a quantity and the remaining items revert to their normal prices — add it back and the bundle price returns.

  3. 3

    You are never charged more

If the individual prices happen to fall below the bundle price, the bundle simply stops applying and you pay the lower amount.
